KOHAT: Four persons, including two cops, sustained injuries when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a police van in front of the Jangalkhel Police Station on Saturday, official sources said.
The sources said that two masked bike riders opened indiscriminate fire on the van as soon as it came out of the Jangalkhel Police Station to take two accused, Abid Iqbal and Rashid Iqbal, to a local court for hearing. The sources said the policemen, Noor Muhammad and Naseer Khan and the accused, Abid Iqbal and Rashid Iqbal, sustained injuries in the attack. The attackers escaped the scene while the injured were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Kohat where from Abid Iqbal and Arshad Iqbal were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar due to their precarious condition.
Following the incident, the police reached the spot and launched search in the surrounding area for the arrest of the attackers. The police registered the case against unknown accused and started investigation.
