SIALKOT: US Consul General Zachary Harkenrider has said that the US and Pakistan have been enjoying friendly bilateral relations for more than six decades, which have also gone through ups and downs during the recent years.
Addressing the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here on Thursday, he said that US President Barack Obama and his government wanted further betterment in the bilateral relations between the two countries. Due to the personal interest shown by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, considerable work had been done over the accord of Pak-US economic partnership, which would greatly help in shaping up healthy bilateral ties in near future, he added. He said that the US was not only assisting and cooperating Pakistan in a number of power generation projects, including Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park, but it was also helping in the betterment of the process of transmission.
APP adds: US Consul General Zachary Harkenrider said that the US wanted long term economic cooperation with Pakistan. He that the US also wanted to enhance trade ties with Pakistan, particularly in oil and gas sectors. He appreciated the role of SCCI in establishing the airport and launching other development projects. He said that the Sialkot business community manufactured items as per international quality. He assured the local business community of cooperating in export and import related issues. SCCI president Fazal Jilani also spoke on the occasion.
