KARACHI: Hosts Pakistan Ordinance Factories (POF) got off to a fine start when they beat Sindh 44-28 in their opener of the 38th National Kabaddi Championship at Wah Cantt on Thursday.
In the other match, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa got a walk-over against Punjab after the latter did not reach the venue.
On Friday (today), WAPDA will face Higher Education Commission (HEC), SNGPL will be pitted against POF, Army will meet KP, while Police will clash with Police.
Earlier, president of POF Wah Sports Board Syed Mehdi Abbas Shah formally opened the competitions.
Initially, Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) wanted to make it an international event as they had invited India, Afghanistan and Iran for the showpiece.
But due to clearance problem the participation of the foreign nations could not be ensured and the international event was converted into a national one.
