Dacoit killed in ‘encounter’

KASUR: A dacoit was killed in an encounter with Phoolnagar police near Jambar on Monday.
Six dacoits were robbing people of cash and valuables on Multan Road near Khan Kay Morr, Jambar, when a police party led by SHO Muhammad Ayub reached the spot while patrolling the area. On seeing police, the dacoits opened fire on them. Police also retaliated. As a result, one of the six dacoits was killed on the spot while the others fled.
However, according to DPO Rai Babar Saeed, the dacoit was killed by the firing of his accomplices. The killed dacoit was later identified as Azam alias Ajju. He was wanted by police in several cases.
