GUJRANWALA: A medical report has confirmed police torture on a man.
In a petition, Arif Ali said that he was passing through Awan Chowk when he saw that Motorway police Inspector M Nawaz and three sub-inspector were allegedly beating a rickshaw driver. He asked them not to beat him. It infuriated the accused policemen and they pushed Arif in their official van and tortured him. The complainant said that he went to Civil Lines police but police allegedly refused to register a case.
To it, the magistrate ordered medical examination of the victim, which confirmed that he was tortured by police. Further investigation is under way.
DEMO: The family of Shahid, who was murdered for honour on Sunday, staged a demonstration against People’s Colony police on Monday.
They staged a demonstration by placing the body of Shahid on a road and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. They were chanting slogans against police. The protesters dispersed when police assured them of soon arresting the accused. Shahid had contracted love marriage with Raheela. On Sunday, Naeem and his brother Altaf came to the house of their sister Raheela and allegedly gunned down Shahid.

Dacoits loot 60 tola gold, Rs 1.7m from house

GUJRANWALA: Six bandits looted a house at Dhulley on Monday. The dacoit forced their entry into the house of Kuwait-returned Zeeshan, locked the family in a room and made off with Rs 1.7 million, 60 tola gold ornaments and other valuables. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
