COAS calls on UAE crown prince
ABU DHABI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Sunday met Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE's Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi.
Director General of ISI Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar also attended the meeting.
In his latest visit — which marks the third one to the UAE within 15 months — General Bajwa discussed with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan the strategic relations between Pakistan and the UAE as well as various other issues pertaining to the military and the ongoing regional situation.
General Bajwa expressed gratitude to Sheikh Mohammed for the humanitarian assistance the UAE provides to Pakistanis living there and the highly-valued development projects implemented in Pakistan in line with the directives of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, WAM — the UAE official news agency — reported.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the bilateral cooperation between the two countries and ways of developing them to serve their common interests. They also discussed the importance of enhancing joint cooperation and coordination between the two countries in various defence and military fields.
The two sides exchanged views on regional and international developments as well as a number of issues of common concern.
Speaking to The News, diplomatic officials expressed hope that General Bajwa's visit to the UAE would help reduce the stress and anxiety among Pakistan and the Arab nation.
