PESHAWAR: Organisers of the snow jeep rally have said that the event in Kalam valley has played a vital role in attracting new racers from the province as well as the country, who expressed eagerness to join the next adventurous jeep race. Through a statement on Sunday, Frontier Four-Wheel Club president Babar Khan Yousafzai, vice-president Yasir Khan and club founder Asad Sethi said that the Fourth Snow Jeep Rally 2015 at the Shahi Ground in the scenic Kalam valley in Swat district had become a driving force to attract more jeep racers. They said the spectacular snow jeep rally was welcomed by a number of amateur racers across the country and they had expressed their willingness to participate in the next event. The Fourth Snow Jeep Rally 2015 was held at the Shahi Ground in the scenic Kalam valley in Swat district recently. The Sports, Tourism, Archeology and Museums and Youth Affairs Department and the Frontier Four-Wheel Club had organised the event in which the racers of 25 different vehicles and four-wheel jeeps from across the country participated. Former nazim of Kalam, Ameer Said Khan, was chief guest while Babar Khan Yousafzai, Yasir Khan, Asad Sethi, officials of the sports and tourism department, army, police and a large number of people attended the event. The oragnisers had established a dangerous and tricky 800-metre long track for the drivers of the rally at Shahi Ground. The racers successfully covered the distance twice with full speed and proved their skills. Shahnawaz Khan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was declared first while Muhammad Zeb and Asad Sethi clinched second and third positions, respectively. Zulfiqar Khan was given jeep of the event award. The participants said the event provided an opportunity of enjoyment to the locals and tourists but it had also given a message of peace to the world and would attract professional and amateur drivers and tourists from across the country. They said the tourism department and other organisations should continue arranging such events in future to promote peace and tourism in the country, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They praised drivers and tourists for actively participating in the event to make it a success.Babar Yousafzai said that his club was arranging five events in a year: snow crossing, water crossing, desert race, mountain climbing and summer camps.
