Civil Hospital Karachi has introduced a new medical device called Capso Vision meant for diagnostic imaging of the gastrointestinal system.
Additional Medical Superintendent Dr Arif Niaz said the medical device would aid physicians to carry out superior clinical procedures and improve the patients’ quality of life. Dr Niaz explained that Capso Vision was a capsule-like device used for an endoscopic procedure.
A patient is required to swallow the capsule with a glass of water while the capsule remains in the body for up to 16 hours, capturing images of the gastrointestinal system. Dr Niaz mentioned that the device helped to diagnose multiple intestine problems but was a very expensive procedure in private hospitals.
