Karachi is set for the second heatwave of May 2018. The city will be in the grip of rising temperatures for the next five to six days. During this period, besides dry and warm winds, the temperature will shoot up to 42-44 degrees Celsius. Since it is the month of fasting, the risk of heatstroke and heat exhaustion among those who will be fasting will increase.
Everybody should take all possible precautions during Ramazan to avoid any setback. We should also not forget the voiceless – birds and animals – who need a little push from our end to survive the heat. People should leave a bowl of water on roofs, windowsill and outside the gate. The government should also set up heat relief plans to provide relief to people.
