Experts rule out Hunza floods

Islamabad: A committee of experts formed by the prime minister has ruled out the possibility of floods happening due to the Khurdopin Glacier Lake in Shimshal valley of Hunza. This information was revealed during a meeting chaired by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lieutenant General Omar Mahmood Hayat here on Monday.

Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority Director General Fareed Ahmad briefed the participants about the findings of the committee. The experts said danger could be reduced on permanent basis with prompt action and continuous surveillance.
