Fawad shines in veterans cricket match
KARACHI: Fawad Ijaz Khan’s five-wicket haul was the highlight of the festival cricket match between Karachi Gymkhana Veterans and Omar Associates Veterans here at the Karachi Gymkhana Ground the other day.
Batting first, Karachi Gymkhana were bowled out for 184 in the final over. Azhar Khan scored 52 off 41 balls, while Asim Ansari made 21. Karachi Gymkhana were cruising comfortably at 141 runs for loss of five wickets at the end of 16 overs. At this time Fawad, a left-arm spinner, was introduced into the attack and he took the last five wickets for 29 runs in his four-over spell.
Chasing 185 in 25 overs, Omar Associates were all out for 142 with skipper Nadeem Omar making 20 off 22 balls with one four. Fayyaz Ahmed also made 20. For KG Veterans, Nadeem Dalia and Shaharyar took three wickets each.
