Water filtration plants, dispensers installed in hospitals
LAHORE : As per orders from Supreme Court of Pakistan, arrangements for provision of clean drinking water for the patients and their attendants in teaching hospitals and specialised healthcare institutions have been completed and reverse osmosis (RO), arsenic water filtration plants, water coolers and dispensers have been installed in all the hospitals according to the requirements.
In this connection, all the heads of the institutions have furnished a certificate to the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department.
This was informed in a video link meeting chaired by the Punjab Minister for SH&ME Khawaja Salman Rafique, according to a handout issued here on Thursday. Besides, Secretary Health Najam Ahmed Shah, Special Secretary Development Usman Moazzam, officers of the department concerned, experts from Wasa, Public Health, PITB and the heads of medical educational institutions, Medical Superintends of Teaching Hospitals and specialised healthcare institutions attended the meeting.
All the heads of teaching hospitals updated the meeting about the latest situation and progress in the arrangements for the provision of clean drinking water, pathology, radiology facilities, hospital waste management and provision of medicines in the emergency department of the hospital.
It was informed that all arrangements have been made in the hospitals for supply of clean drinking water for the patients and their attendants. Necessary guidance has also been displayed at all the water supply points. It was informed that 100 percent free medicine is being provided to the patients in emergency department of the hospitals.
On this occasion, Secretary Health Najam Ahmed Shah directed that local purchase system of medicine (LP) be foolproof and it is ensured that the same medicine of the same brand should be supplied by the vendor which is prescribed by a consultant for the patient and replacement of the brand should not be accepted.
Najam Shah directed the heads of the hospital that they must pay random visits for the checking of brands of the medicines purchased through LP system so that it could be ensured that the same medicine is being supplied for which price has been paid.
Later, while talking to the media Khawaja Salman Rafique said that as per direction of the honorable Supreme Court, all the arrangements have been completed and the heads of the hospitals have submitted certificates in this regard which would be presented before the honorable
nurses day: The nursing department of Pakistan Kidney & Liver Institute and Research Center Thursday observed International Nurses Day.
According to a press release, the purpose of the event was to pay homage to the selfless contributions nurses make to society and to appreciate nursing staff for their services.
Punjab Nursing Director General Kausar Perveen was the chief guest of the event.
Adam Rouilly Ltd Executive Director Tariq Shahab and Dr Mumtaz Masood from Artech Biomed (Pvt) Ltd were the guests of honor on the occasion. Nursing staff from PKLI&RC, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Punjab Institute of Mental Health, Mayo Hospital and Punjab Institute of Cardiology participated in the event.
President and CEO of PKLI&RC Prof Dr Saeed Akhter said it was important for nurses to continuously enhance their knowledge and learn new skills to stay abreast with the modern health management standards.
Associate Director of nursing department Dr Hadja Brown said the nursing department would provide more efficient care to the patients.
