ISLAMABAD: Peshawar edged out Bannu 3-2 on the penalty strokes to win the Under-23 KP Inter-Regional Hockey Tournament here at the Lala Ayub Stadium.
Both teams showed brilliant stick work but were unable to crack the ice in the scheduled time. However on the penalty strokes, Peshawar won the final 3-2. Earlier in the semi-finals, Peshawar beat Swat 4-0 while Bannu defeated Mardan 1-0 on penalty strokes.
KP Sports Board Director General Junaid Khan was the guest of honour and distributed prizes among the winners. KP Hockey President Zahir Shah and secretary Haji Hidayatullah were also present on the occasion.Junaid announced that every division in KP will be having artificial hockey turf in very near future. He announced Rs70,000 for the winning team and Rs50,000 for the runners-up.
