LAHORE: On the fifth day of the Pakistan’s inaugural Super Kabaddi League, Gwadar Bahadurs tasted first defeat of the event at the handa of Sahiwal after a tough resistance here at the Gymnasium Hall of Sports Board Punjab at Nishtar Park Sports Complex on Sunday.
Sahiwal Bulls faced the toughest of response from Gwadar Bahadurs in the first match of the day. The match changed fate several a time sometime turning in favour of Gawdar and sometime in favour of Sahiwal. But ultimately Sahiwal kept its nerves to win by 36-34 margin.
Sahiwal Bulls’ Afzal was injured in his previous match, but he continued to display great sportsman spirit and took the field to play. On the other hand, Gwadar Bahadurs’ Malinda suffered a fractured nose and he also showed courage to continue playing.
Earlier on day four, Islamaad All Stars completed a 48-27 rout of Kashmir Jaanbaaz. Faisal Nadeem from Islamabad All Stars scored 13 points and was named Man of the MatchThe second match played between Mutan Sikandar and Peshawar Haiders.
The two teams gave each other a tough time in a neck and neck competition. In the end, Peshawar Haiders beat Multan Sikandar with a narrow margin. The final score was 34 for Peshawar Haiders and 31 for Multan Sikandar. Qaiser Abbas earned 13 points and was named Man of the Match.
Gujrat Warriors claimed their second victory with 39 points, after beating Sahiwal Bulls by only 2 points. Sahiwal Bulls were able to secure 37 points. Waqar Ali scored 13 points for the team and was named Man of the Match.
The final match was played between Gwadar Bahadurs and Karachi Zorawars. Gwadar Bahadurs managed to maintain their winning streak after beating Karachi Zorawars 40-36. APJ Malinda was named man of the match.
