The first official visit of Emir of Qatar to Pakistan will go a long way in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. It is in our interest to boost ties not only with Qatar but with all states in the Gulf. These states are rich in resources and have healthy economies.
Better relations with these states can improve Pakistan’s dwindling trade prospects. The government should act honestly to utilise offers and incentives for the development of our crumbling economic sector. It is expected that the Pak-Qatar long-term contract for the supply of LNG will be helpful in alleviating the energy crisis caused by the gas shortfall in the country. In this regard, the PM’s willingness and efforts to enhance cooperation with Qatar in all fields are commendable.
