CJP takes notice of journalists’ torture

ISLAMABAD: Chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday took notice of manhandling of journalist community at D-Chowk and sought report from Attorney General and Islamabad Administration today (Friday)

Some journalists appeared before the court when Chief Justice was hearing a case and informed that on the eve of World Press Freedom Day, they were leading a rally from Press Club to Parliament House for presenting a resolution to the lawmakers.

They however, said when they reached D-Chowk, they were intercepted by the police and manhandled them as some female journalists were also accompanying the rally.

The chief justice asked Attorney General Ashter Ali Ausaf, present in the courtroom to look into the matter and submit a report by today (Friday).

The chief justice also directed that the Advocate General, Islamabad as well as Islamabad Administration should also furnish a report with the ruling that the case will be taken up today (Friday).
