Punjab Boxing C’ship trials from tomorrow
LAHORE: Inter-Division Punjab Open Boxing Championship (boys and girls) will be organised from May 12 to 15, 2018 at State of the Art Punjab Tennis Court, Nishtar Park Sports Complex. The championship will be held under the slogan of ‘Kaun banayga Punjab ka boxing champion’.
Deputy Director SBP Hafeez Bhatti, PRO Abdul Rauf, Arshad Javed Qureshi, Shahid Nizami, Raees ur Rehman and Mustafa Shah inspected the arrangements of championship at State of the Art Punjab Tennis Court on Thursday.
Talking to media Deputy Director Hafeez Bhatti said the Inter-Division Punjab Open Boxing Championship is being organized under the instructions of Secretary Sports Punjab Aamir Jan to promote the game of boxing in the province. Director Admin Javed Chohan also had a notable role in this regard. “The championship will be conducted in 26 weight categories and three classes – Youth Class (10 weight categories), Elite Class (10 weight categories) and Elite Female Class (6 weight categories)”.
Answering a question, Bhatti said the registration for the Inter-Division Punjab Open Boxing Championship has been completed in all districts of Punjab. “The trials for the selection of teams will be held on May 5 and 6 at State of the Art Punjab Tennis Court. The winners of Inter-Division Punjab Open Boxing Championship in different categories will be awarded handsome cash prizes,” he added. Bhatti further informed that top officials from Pakistan Olympic Association, Pakistan Boxing Federation, Punjab Boxing Association, Divisional and District officers have been invited at the Inter-Division Punjab Open Boxing Championship.
