ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Cha-mber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in collaboration with Islamabad Judo Association (IJA) organised the first ICCI Judo Championship 2018 in which around 200 male and female judokas of the country along with foreign players participated.
In the boys’ -37kg fight, Mechael got first position while Muhammad Ali stood second and Amanullah clinched third position.Umar Khan grabbed first position, Waji claimed second spot while Hanzala stood third in the -42kg category competitions. Husnain won -50kg category fight and stood first, while Naveed got second and Muhammad Abid grabbed third position.
Meanwhile, -55kg category title was won by Nasir Qureshi and Aman Sarfraz got second position while Yasir stood third. In the -60kg fight, Adnan grabbed first position, Meraj Gull second and Faizan third.
Foreign player Frank got first position in the -66kg fight. In -73kg competitions, Riasat stood first, Rashid second and Daud Khan third. The -81kg title was won by Hamza Bhatti stood first.
In the open weight category competitions, Adnan, Adil and Hamza Bhatti clinched first three positions respectively. Ayesha Khan stood first in girls’ -50kg fight while Khadija second. ICCI President Sheikh Amir Waheed was the chief guest on the occasion.
Sheikh Amir said Pakistan achieved second position in the recently held South Asian Senior Judo Championship in Nepal which shows that our country has great talent to excel in judo. Muhammad Naveed Malik Senior Vice President, Nisar Mirza Vice President ICCI, Zahreef Ahmed Khan President Islamabad Judo Association, Nasir Chaudhry Chairman ICCI Sports Committee, Japanese Embassy Head of Cultural Section Ashida, First Secretary Japanese Embassy Nachi Yoshhimura and others were also present on the occasion
