The recent budget has been a source of dismay for old pensioners who had hoped that policymakers will increase their pension by a significant amount. This year, the government has once again allowed a 10 percent increase in pension, which will have little or no effect on pension.
The authorities need to realise that with the surge in the cost of living, it is practically impossible for pensioners to survive on meagre pension. The government must increase the pension for senior pensioners who are above 75 years as it will provide them with much-needed financial assistance.
