KARACHI: Habib Bank Limited (HBL) on Monday said it has hired a former JP Morgan official as its new head. The bank in a statement said seasoned banker Muhammad Aurangzeb has been appointed as president and chief executive officer of the bank with effect from April 30, 2018.
“I’m delighted to be a part of HBL, which is an integral part of the nation’s fabric, and look forward to working with all the stakeholders to grow HBL from strength to strength,” the statement quoted Aurangzeb as commenting on his appointment. The bank said before joining HBL, he was associated with JP Morgan, Asia Pacific as the CEO Global Corporate Bank since 2011.
“Aurangzeb started his career with Citibank, first in Pakistan and later in New York. Subsequently, he joined ABN AMRO Bank in a senior leadership role, rising to the position of Country Manager in Pakistan,” the HBL said.
The statement added that the new head has held senior level regional and global positions in ABN AMRO Amsterdam, RBS Singapore. “Aurangzeb is a graduate of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania from where he received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Economics as well as an MBA,” the statement said.
