KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), operator of Adhi Field, together with its joint venture partners Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) commenced first oil production from well Adhi South X-1, a statement said.
After discovery and subsequent rig release, construction work was carried out to tie in the well to Adhi LPG/NGL Plant-III, following which it was commissioned within eight weeks of discovery, setting a record in well commissioning time for PPL.
Hydrocarbon reserves were discovered recently at Adhi South X-1 located in Rawalpindi District, Punjab. It was drilled to target depth of 3,395 metres, resulting in discovery of oil from Khewra and condensate from Tobra sandstone reservoirs, the statement added. Currently, well production rates are around 1,300 barrels of oil/day and two mmscfd gas, which is expected to gradually scale up to 1,800 barrels of oil/day and six mmscfd. This discovery will lead to the appraisal and development of Adhi South Field, it said.
