Acting Punjab Governor Rana Iqbal Khan awarded civil honours to 36 persons belonging to different walks of life. The ceremony was held at the Governor’s House on Pakistan Day in which nine persons were awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz, 12 received Pride of Performance and 15 got Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. The persons who received Sitara-e-Imtiaz included Dr Omar Saif, Dr Mujahid Kamran, Dr Fayaz Ahmed Akhter, Yasmeen Tahir, renowned singer Rahat Ali Khan, Dr Abdul Rasheed Sial, Pervaiz Masood, Yunus Sheikh and Test cricketer Saeed Ajmal. Mir Mohammed Ali, known for his remarkable performance in Geo TV prgramme Khabarnak, was also one the 15 persons who won Pride of Performance. Others in this category included Dr Masood ul Hassan, Lt Col Shafqat Hussein, Dr Mazhar Mehmood, TV actor Asim Bokhari, Zulfiqar Ali Ghazi, Mohammed Tufail, Abdul Rauf Tahir, Mohammed Asif whereas former Editor The News, Lahore, the late Ayesha Haroon and the late Professor Asgher Sodai also won Pride of Performance posthumously. Renowned music director Sajjad Tafo and Ejaz Hussein were among those who were awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. —Correspondent
