KARACHI: Marib Malik, Abdul Rehman, and Farhan Mustafa moved into the second round of men’s singles in Modern Club Founder Members National Tennis championship at Modern Club here on Sunday.
In the first main round of the category, Marib thrashed Imran Ahmed 6-1, 6-2; Abdul Rehman overpowered M Bilal Soomro 5-7, 6-1, 6-2; and Farhan beat Murad Khan 6-3, 6-2.
Jahangir Khalid defeated Shoaib Abbas (Khairpur) 6-3, 6-4 in the first qualifying round of the category and Sher Muhammad smashed Bilal Ahmed 6-0, 6-0.
Jahangir got walkover against Noman Farid (Hyderabad) in the second qualifying round.
In the first main round of junior under-18 singles, Muhammad Raza Sawani beat Ali Habib 6-0, 6-0 and Marib Malik defeated Umair Tariq 6-2, 6-1.
In the under-16 singles second round, Eibad Sarwar Hussain beat Mujahidullah 6-0, 6-3 and Nauman Aftab defeated Umair Tariq 6-2, 6-0.
Earlier, Umair Tariq got walkover agiasnt Ali Habib in the first round of the category.
In the under-14 singles main first round Abde Ali thrashed Muhammad Ali 6-1, 6-1; Abdullah Khan won against M Ghufran Faiz 6-4, 3-6, 6-3; and Osama Khan defeated M Abdulah Ahmedani 6-2, 6-2.
In under-12 first round, Yousuf Haleem beat Ibadurrehman 6-0, 6-0; Abdul Raheem beat M Ahmed Ahmadani 6-3, 6-4; and M Dawood Mustafa got walkover against Anesh Talrega.
