Bilawal pays tribute to Allama Iqbal
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has paid rich tributes to the great poet-philosopher, Allama Mohammad Iqbal, on his 80th death anniversary in the country observed on Saturday.
In his statement, he said that the poetry of Allama Iqbal was an everlasting asset to not only the subcontinent but the entire world as well.
His poetic message always promoted human fraternity and love and lit the lamp of hope among the Muslims of South Asia, Bilawal added.
He said that the poetry of Allama Iqbal could effectively be used against extremist, religious and militancy tendencies and for the interpretations of spiritual and religious thoughts.
The PPP chairman was of the opinion that the onslaught of extremism could only be challenged through incorporating in religious education the message of Allama Iqbal, who floated the concept of Pakistan.
Allama Iqbal remained an icon who tried to create awareness, a sense of responsibility among the Muslims for his entire life and infused new life in the independence movement, Bilawal stated.
