Major power breakdown hits Rawalpindi during rain
Rawalpindi: Several parts of Rawalpindi city and cantonment faced power breakdown for more than 10 hours due to poor electricity system of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) during rain on Friday. Adiala Road, Defence Road, Munawar Colony, Hill View Lane, Bakramandi, Gulshanabad, Kalyal, Al-Mumtaz Colony, Dhok Juma, Dhok Kalhoor, Jarahi, Gorakh Pure, Samarzar and Dhamyal remained without electricity for most of the day which also resulted in water shortage in these areas. All water filtration plants remained closed due to absence of electricity. Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) spokesman Raja Asim Nazir told ‘The News’ that consumers were facing long power breakdown due to major faults in feeders including 502 and Bakramandi. He said that thunderstorm and heavy rain disturbed electricity system in several localities.
