Relatives protest woman’s death at DI Khan hospital
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The relatives of a woman who died due to alleged negligence of doctors staged a protest and damaged equipment at the district headquarters hospital here on Tuesday. The relatives said that Shama Bibi, 50, had suffered a heart attack and they had brought her to the district headquarters hospital.
They said the doctors after conducting electrocardiogram (ECG) test of the woman gave her an injection at the intensive care unit (ICU), adding the patient expired after five minutes. The relatives accused the doctors of negligence and administering a wrong vaccine to the woman, which they said led to her death. The angry relatives smashed the shields and widows of the ICU ward and hurled threats at the doctors. The protesters dispersed after the police reached the hospital. The doctors rejected the negligence charge and insisted that the patient was properly tended to. The police registered a case against the protesters under sections 149, 148 and 430.
