CJP stresses rule of law in economic development

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar has emphasized on rule of law and its importance in economic development of the country.

He was talking to a twenty-six member delegation of law students of Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law of LUMS University Lahore headed by Dean and Professor of Law Prof Dr Martin Wilhelm Lau which called on him here on Friday.

The Chief Justice briefed them about the constitutional mandate of judiciary as one of the pillars of the State and fundamental rights enunciated in the Constitution.

The delegation met Justice Mian Saqib Nisar as a part of their study tour at Supreme Court building Islamabad. The Chief Justice welcomed the students and gave them an overview of the Constitution of 1973 of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, said a press release.

He briefed them about the constitutional mandate of judiciary as one of the pillars of the State and fundamental rights enunciated in the Constitution. He laid emphasis on Rule of Law and its importance in economic development of countries.

Justice Nisar, underlined the need of education and its significance in society. He emphasized upon the students to show integrity and honesty on every walk of life to lead a prosperous and peaceful life. Later, he answered the questions of the participants in an interactive session and shared his experiences.

Prof. Dr. Martin Wilhelm Lau thanked the Chief Justice of Pakistan on his own behalf and on behalf of the participants for sparing time for them and sharing legal experiences and knowledge.
