MANSEHRA: The local government representatives would move the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for banning tendering for the development schemes.
The ECP had banned fresh employment and development schemes to ensure free and fair election in the country, which irked the local government representatives who termed the decision a hurdle to development at grassroots level.
"Because of the ban, the people in the country particularly in remote parts of Mansehra and Hazara division would be deprived of the development and prosperity," Khuram Khan Swati, tehsil nazim Mansehra, told reporters on Friday.
Mian Abrar, tehsil councillor, said that the local governments were without budgetary allocations for the last many moths. "Now funds are released but the ECP bar on execution of fresh schemes, which may affect the performance of local governments," said Abrar.
