KARACHI: Pakistan Hockey Federation’s (PHF) election for 2018-2022 is likely to be held in the middle of May.
First there will be an inter-club hockey championship, then scrutiny of the clubs will be conducted and then PHF’s election will be held. This process will take more than one month, sources informed ‘The News’.
PHF has already informed all four provincial associations and other units that the inter-club championship would be organised across the country in April. The PHF has directed them to complete the championships by April 30 so that scrutiny of the clubs and then PHF election could be held in May.
Registered clubs must participate in the championship or they would lose their voting rights or even affiliation. New clubs have been allowed to participate in the event with an application to their district association. A club can have up to three departmental players.
PHF has also directed the provincial associations to appoint tournament director in each district. These tournament directors will chalk out the schedule of the championships in collaboration with the PHF-appointed observer and the respective district sports officers.
The championship will be organised under the FIH rules and regulations and PHF guidelines. The PHF observer will provide scrutiny form to each club for registration. In order to conduct the inter-club championships smoothly, PHF will appoint observer in each district and will ensure transparency.
The observer will collect data from the tournament director and will submit the same to PHF. The inter-club championship, scrutiny and elections are being held in accordance with the unanimous decision of PHF congress, PHF Executive Board and election rules of IOC charter, FIH and AHF bylaws, POA rules and regulations and National Sports policy 2005.
