Mounds of garbage on every corner of a road are a distinct feature of our country. These heaps of garbage are the main reason for the pungent stench that has enveloped almost every neighbourhood. Only one act of carelessness is needed to convert an entire city into a dumping ground. Many people give preference to throwing litter in streets instead of bins installed at various locations.
If we are travelling in a car, we can hold on to the wrappers and dispose of them in proper dustbins. However, in our country, citizens throw plastic wrappers out of car windows. While there is no denying the fact that dumpsites in our country are filled to the brim, this doesn’t justify the absence of civic sense demonstrated by citizens. We need to understand that this practice is damaging the environment. Tackling the garbage crisis is the responsibility of citizens.
