BAHAWALPUR: Funeral prayer of leader of Tehreek Bahali Soba Bahawalpur Tahira Khan aka Bint-e-Bahawalpur was held in Markazi Janazgah at Chowk Fawara on Tuesday evening.
A large number of people from different walks of life attended her funeral. Tahira had played a leading role during the massive public campaign for the restoration of provincial status for Bahawalpur in 1970. In April 1970 in a crackdown on leaders and activists of the campaign, she was forcibly expelled from Bahawalpur division by General Yahya Khan. She has left two sons and a daughter to mourn her death.
