The anti narcotics force (ANF) in seven countrywide operations, recovered 1 Kg Heroin, 19 Kg Opium, 14.3 Kg Charas and 200 Grams Amphetamine, the spokesman for the ANF Headquarters said.
The value of recovered drugs approximately amounts to Rs62.4 million in international market. ANF also arrested 10 persons involved in drug trafficking and seized 3 vehicles during the operations.
ANF Rawalpindi in an information based operation, intercepted Honda Civic Car (LXF-5801) and Toyota Corolla XLI Car (BT- 755-ICT) at Katarian Pull, Pirwadhai-Faizabad Road, Rawalpindi and recovered 12.5 Kg Charas from the cars. Charas was concealed in improvised cavities of the cars. Two persons — Hazrat Ali, resident of Peshawar and Yousaf Khan, resident of Khyber Agency — were taken into custody. As per preliminary investigations, they came from Peshawar and intended to deliver drugs to local peddlers at Rawalpindi.
ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team during routine profiling at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, detained a Sharjah bound passenger — Muhammad Khan, resident of Khushab. During interrogation, the accused confessed of having gulped Heroin filled capsules. He was to board on PIA Flight No (PK-212). ANF Lahore acted on a tip-off and seized a Toyota Corolla Car (ICT-PD-961) near Haroon Express Bus Stand, Thokar Niaz Beg, Lahore. Search of the car led to recovery of 19 Kg Opium hidden in secret cavities of the car. Two drug carriers — Ghulam Hassan and Shoukat Ali — both residents of Swabi were apprehended on the spot. According to initial reports, they were coming from Peshawar and were trying to smuggle the drug to Lahore City. The main source of drug supply is reported to be based at Khyber Agency.
ANF Lahore Airport Team, intercepted a suspected passenger namely Sheikh Haq Nawaz, resident of Sargodha at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore. During search of his luggage, 200 Grams Amphetamine was recovered, which was tactfully concealed in a decoration piece. The accused intended to fly for Malaysia by PIA Flight No (PK-898). After initial investigations, source of drug supply namely Rashid was also arrested from Rehmanpura, Sragodha.
ANF Karachi on pursuance of an information, raided at Abbasi Hotel, Tando Jam Road, Hyderabad City and arrested a local drug peddler, Abdul Hussain, resident of Hyderabad along with 1.8 Kg Charas. ANF Karachi Airport Team arrested an accused Zaman Sher, resident of Charsadah at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi on suspicion of having ingested Heroin filled capsules. During interrogation, he confessed of having Heroin filled capsules in his stomach. The accused intended to take off for Jeddah by Gulf Airline Flight (GF-751).
