Cop injured by drug pushers during checking

LAHORE: Unidentified persons shot at and wounded an assistant police inspctor (ASI) when he stopped them for checking during routine patrolling in the Burki police jurisdiction on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Asim. Police said the accused persons were selling drugs on a bike. ASI Asim and Umar had stopped them for checking, but they opened firing. Umar remained unhurt. The accused fled. The victim was removed to hospital.

commits suicide: A young girl committed suicide by hanging herself from a fan after a quarrel with her friend in the North Cantt police area on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Sumaira. Police said she quarrelled with her friend, Khurram. She got dejected, locked herself in a room and hanged herself from a ceiling fan. She was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police, after being informed, reached the scene and collected forensic evidence.

The Cantt SP said police would investigate the matter keeping in view all aspects. The body has been removed to morgue. NH&MP: The National Highways and Motorway Police Central Zone reunited two missing boys with their families.

The boys aged 5 and 6 years were found weeping on the national highways near Niazi Chowk in the area of Beat 18. Motorway Officers Adil Younis and Asif Javed found them. The NH&MP officers took them into their custody and traced their parents after hectic efforts. The boys were handed over to their families in the presence of witnesses after completion of due formalities. Their familties thanked the NH&MP officers.

NH&MP Zonal Commander DIG Ahmad Arslan Malik also appreciated the efforts of the police officers.
