Teachers should impart knowledge of Islamic values: experts

MULTAN: Director General Islamic Research Institute, Islamic International University Islamabad Professor Dr Muhammad Zia Ul Haq stressed upon teachers to inform students about knowledge of Islamic values.

He said this while addressing the second session of an international conference titled “The Tradition of Adoption, Innovation and Transmission in Islamic Culture and Civilization”.

He said the proper knowledge about the Islamic culture, civilization and values would surely help young generation make rapid progress in the world. He said that the Islamic values were dying in the present era we are living in and stressed the need to promote these values.

Dr Zia further said that the Paigham-e-Pakistan was unanimous declaration of scholars from all schools of thoughts against the menace of terrorism. He said the Paigham-e-Pakistan was, in fact, the name of a message of prosperous and peaceful Pakistan. He said that Muslims do not want any conflict with other civilizations, they just want to secure their own civilization. He urged the youngsters to play their effective role for progress and prosperity of the country. He said that the efforts were being made to include the message of ‘Paigham-e-Pakistan’ in the syllabus.

Speaking on this occasion, Chairman, Department of Islamic Studies, BZU, Professor Dr Abdul Qadus Suhaib observed that respect for humanity was basic principle of the Islamic values. He said the Holy Quran clearly remarked that all men were equal, however, one could get preference on the basis of having quality of “Taqwa”.

Dr Abdul Qadus maintained that Islam also stressed on “Hussan-e-Akhlaq”, which was a supreme quality and it had capacity to win hearts of everyone. He said that the religion Islam was spread in the world within a period of just 23 years and it was due to “Hussan-e-Akhlaq” of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

He said that brotherhood was another beautiful quality preached by Islam. Quoting a Hadees, he said all Muslims were brothers and if one Muslim faces any sort of pain or problem, it should also be felt by others. He said that similarly, truthfulness, respect for meetings (majlis), call people with their real names, and dispensation of justice are best traits of the Islamic culture.

Addressing the conference, Dr Kashif Mehmood said that the menace of terrorism could be defeated through the ideology which was now established at the national level.Other speakers, including Dr Asmat Naaz, Dr Samia Maqbool Niazi, Dr Mudassira Sabreen, Muhammad Munir, Rustam Khan and Dr Razia Shabana also addressed the conference.
