ISLAMABAD: Senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and ex-chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani Thursday said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) cannot refuse the Parliament for providing the names of the members of the committee involved in delimitation of the constituencies.
“No information by any ministry, division, department or any organisation functioning under the Constitution can be withheld from the Parliament. This is substantiated through the rules and parliamentary traditions,” he said in his comment over refusal of certain officials of the ECP to provide the names of the members of the committee involved in delimitations.
Raza Rabbani mentioned that there is a detailed ruling of the chairman Senate issued in 2017 that no information can be withheld from the Parliament or its committees.
