Model Village Chak Shahzad, also known as Shahzad Town, located on National Park Road was founded by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) about 50 years ago. Then, the CDA paid attention to infrastructural development and built roads, and lay water and sewerage pipelines. However, the competent authority didn’t pay attention to its maintenance on a regular basis. In addition, it also did not pay attention to other essential community requirements, including proper footpaths, a community welfare centre, girls school and a medical care centre.
Residents of the town have highlighted several times that these basic facilities should be provided at the earliest, but to no avail. Many applications have been sent to the relevant authorities. But no positive steps have been taken so far. It is time the authorities paid attention to the demands of the residents and took remedial measures to resolve the issues on an urgent basis.
