Palm Sunday celebrated

LAHORE: The Christendom celebrated Palm Sunday to relive the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem.

By tradition, the Christian community attended the holy mass at Holy Trinity Church, Anarkali on the Sixth Sunday of the fasting month, bringing with them palm branches which they wave as a priest sprinkles holy water before the start of the mass.

After Palm Sunday, Christians will join the worldwide celebration of Holy Week, starting Holy Monday until Good Friday. The Holy Week will be filled with religious activities where all roads lead to the church.

Catholic priests will also be busy holding holy retreats and confessions. The traditional processions will also be conducted. Azhar Mushtaq, pastor of the church said, “Jesus has given the lesson of peace and patience which are not practised by people. For peace and harmony, we should all work together. We are thankful to our government for their support.”
