LAHORE: The Punjab Healthcare Commission has closed down 99 fake treatment centres in four districts of the province.
According to a press release on Sunday, PHC teams sealed 99 businesses of quacks during the last week. These comprised 55 general quacks, 28 fake dentists, 14 bone-setters and two hakeems.
The quacks were posing as general physicians while the others also did not qualify to provide medical services under the Punjab Healthcare Commission Act 2010. In Lahore district, businesses of 17 quacks, which included eight general quacks, six fake dentists, two bone-setters and one hakeem, were closed.
In the previous week’s anti-quackery campaign, Gujranwala district topped with 42 closures of fake treatment centres comprising 20 general quacks, 15 fake dentists and seven bone-setters.
In Sargodha, businesses of 27 quacks were sealed, which included 19 general quacks, six dentists and two bone-setters. In Khushab, fake treatment centres of eight general physicians, three bone-setters, one each of dentist and hakeem were closed down.
