LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Sports Jahangir Khanzada said Punjab contingent by winning 139 medals including 65 gold, 44 silver and 30 bronze medals in the 4th Inter-Provincial Games at Peshawar, truly won the hearts of Punjab people; he was talking to Idris Haider Khawaja, the Secretary of Punjab Olympic Association (PbOA) at his office at National Hockey Stadium on Thursday.
Director Admin Javed Rasheed Chohan was also present during the meeting. On this occasion, Idris Haider Khawaja also presented Punjab’s Inter-Provincial Games trophy to Punjab Sports Minister.
Khanzada congratulated all the members and officials of Punjab contingent over such a magnificent performance.Khanzada said Punjab athletes lived up to the expectations and dethroned their opponents in almost all the competitions. “Sports Board Punjab provided best training facilities to all male and female athletes during the training camps and that’s why our athletes defeated their rivals in majority of the competitions through their professional skills”.
“Our contingent’s overwhelming performance is the outcome of Punjab’s outstanding sports infrastructure established under the leadership of Secretary Sports Muhammad Aamir Jan. Dozens of sports projects have been completed and several are on the verge of completion in far-flung area of the province”.
Khanzada expressed his hope that Punjab players will continue to demonstrate their talent in national and international sports events in future. PbOA Secretary Idris Haider Khawaja appreciated the discipline showed by the members of Punjab contingent during the 4th Inter-Provincial Games at Peshawar and thanked Jahangir Khanzada for extending best facilities during trials and training camps of Punjab teams.
