There is no doubt that March 23rd is a day of great national significance, and like all nations we should also celebrate days that are of importance to us, but practically and responsibly. We need to ensure that our celebrations do not inconvenience people.
The people of Rawalpindi were greatly inconvenienced due to the roadblocks and cellular signal jammers put in place for the Pakistan Day parade’s rehearsals. Almost all roads in Rawalpindi were blocked at least a week before March 23. Stuck in massive traffic jams owing to the roadblocks and innumerable checkpoints, many reached their offices and schools late – even patients and their attendants were not spared.
