ISLAMABAD: Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed on Wednesday said the biggest issue in the upcoming days will be the formation of a caretaker government.

Talking to newsmen here, the Rawalpindi politician said the whole nation is looking towards the judiciary, adding that the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) should certainly impose a 90-day ‘judicial martial law’.

“No caretaker PM will be accepted without consulting Imran Khan,” said Rasheed. All the political parties should be taken onboard before finalising the name of the caretaker prime minister, he said.

Responding to the allegations against him by Nawaz Sharif, Rasheed said he was never involved in money laundering; neither did he ever commit corruption. He said he has no assets, properties or flats abroad. “PM’s visit to the US is suspicious. He has gone to the US on a mission,” he said.

He recalled that former prime minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali had been sacked after he met Donald Rumsfeld in the US. He termed the constitution of the interim government as the biggest problem of country at present. “Elections are being organised in a chaotic atmosphere. If a controversial figure is selected for the post of interim premiership, stakeholders will lose faith in the general polls 2018,” asserted Rasheed, adding, “All political parties must be on the same page on the issue of interim prime minister.” While accusing Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PMLN) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif of hoodwinking the nation, Rasheed stated that an atmosphere was being created to link the country’s existence with one [specific] person.
