We have seen a decline in the quality of cricketers, in their discipline, performance, professionalism and commitment to the game and millions of their fans in the country.
Cronyism and conflict of interests have destroyed the future of cricket and dashed the hopes of a nation starving for some good news. Take the case of Imran Tahir. He was denied a chance in the national team but was selected on merit in South Africa. Players like Irfan were not accommodated till the PCB had lost Mohammad Amir because he came from a humble background and had no relatives to recommend him. By the time Irfan was selected, like so many other talented players, he was nearing the age when fast bowlers are about to retire. Neither does Pakistan have the financial clout which India has nor can we afford tainted former players and selectors. It seems no lessons have been learnt from the Justice Qayyum report.
