JAMRUD: The displaced persons from Tirah valley in Khyber Agency on Monday staged a protest to demand carrying out damage assessment survey and incentives given to the affectees of militancy of other areas.
They gathered in the Jamrud bazaar to stage the protest and were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of their demand. A tribal elder Amal Jan was leading the protesters.
The speakers said that the people of Tirah valley suffered huge material and human losses in the war against terrorism. They lamented that their sacrifices were being ignored. They said time and again the problems being faced by the Tirah affectees were brought into the notice of the government officials concerned but to no avail.
The speakers said the houses and other structures of the native people had either been damaged or destroyed in act of militancy and subsequent military offensive against them causing huge losses to the owners but no damage assessment survey was carried out in the affected areas.
