Under the ongoing National Immunisation Days (NIDs) a polio vaccinated drive would commence from Monday (today). More than 1.137 million children would be vaccinated, health officials announced.
Over 3,600 teams comprising 7000 vaccinators would administer the vaccine to children of districts Central, West, South and some union councils of Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
Director Health Karachi Dr Zafar Aijaz said it was the first phase of NIDs in the city and around 1.1 million children would be vaccinated, campaign in remaining districts would be carried out later.
Speaking of the vaccination drive in high risk UCs, he said the drive had been successfully completed whereas special campaigns in the areas would continue in the weeks to come.
Strict security arrangements would be made for the vaccinators, he claimed. “Police would be deployed with the vaccinators whereas the Rangers would also assist them.”
