MANSEHRA: The nazims of 194 village and neighbourhood councils on Monday announced to move the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against the withholding of budgetary allocations of current financial year to their councils by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government.
“We have decided to move PHC for release of our budgetary allocations,” Basharat Ali Swati, the general secretary of Nazmeen Ittehad, told reporters after a meeting of nazims of village and neighbourhood councils from across the district.
He said that the meeting also decided to attend the local government convention to be held on March 26.Mohammad Fareed, president of Nazmeen Ittehad chaired the meeting.Basharat Swati said that local government representatives of district, tehsil and village and neighbourhood councils would largely attend the convention to press provincial government to release funds.He said that village and neighbourhood councils were at the verge of collapse as government didn’t release them a single penny since start of current financial year.
