Three PHC judges take oath of office
PESHAWAR: The three recently confirmed judges of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) took oath of office on Monday.
Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court Yahya Afridi administered oath to the judges at the oath taking ceremony held at Court Room No 1.The judges included Justice Abdul Shakoor, Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Syed Mohammad Attique Shah.
They were appointed on March 27, last year as additional judges of the high court.The total number of confirmed judges in the PHC has reached 14. Now, four judges are serving as additional judges of the high court, while one confirmed judge retired on Monday.
Justice Syed Attique Shah belongs to the Charsadda district. His father Syed Mohammad Shah Badshah was a senior lawyer. He was born in 1968 and was enrolled as an advocate of the Supreme Court in 2008.
Before his elevation to the bench, Justice Attique Shah served as the additional attorney general of Pakistan. He was elected thrice president of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association and also served as its secretary general.
He is well versed in civil law and constitutional matters and has appeared in several important cases during his career.Justice Ijaz Anwar was born in Peshawar in 1968. He did his LLB from the University of Peshawar in 1991 and was enrolled as an advocate in 1993. He was later enrolled as an advocate of the high court in 1997 and the Supreme Court in 2008.
Justice Ijaz Anwar is known for his expertise in matters concerning labour and services.Justice Abdul Shakoor, who belongs to Abbottabad, was born in 1962. He was enrolled as an advocate of the Supreme Court in 2004.
He is considered an expert in corporate and civil law. Separately, a full court reference was also held in honour of Justice Muhammad Younas Thaheem as he retired on Monday as a judge of the high court. The PHC chief justice and law officers praised his work as a judge.
