PESHAWAR: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday authorised several inquiries against government employees regarding corruption and corrupt practices.
A press release said the decision was taken at the Regional Board Meeting (RBM) of the NAB KP, which was chaired by Farmanullah Khan, Director General NAB (KP) at Peshawar.
The subjects are alleged to have embezzled millions of funds in connection with ghost schemes in different union councils of Malakand, illegal award of contracts, and substandard construction of Garhi Usmanikhel sports ground.
Another inquiry was authorised against government employees in Malakand in alleged misappropriation and embezzlement of funds in purchase of land for a Janazah Gaah and cemetery, illegal award of transport terminal (adda) and purchase of land on exorbitant rates for Badraga College.
An inquiry was initiated against officials of Fata Secretariat and others regarding embezzlement of millions of rupees’ funds in multiple projects by using substandard material in construction schemes in North Waziristan Agency.
Another inquiry was authorised against officials of Fata Secretariat and others regarding corruption and corrupt practices and embezzlement of funds in schemes in South Waziristan Agency.
The DG NAB KP stated that as per provision and direction of Justice Javed Iqbal, chairman NAB, they were determined to eradicate corruption across the board on the basis of solid evidence as per the law.
