Mardan win U23 Male Games
MARDAN: Mardan on Thursday clinched the overall trophy of the Khyber Mardan Regional Under-23 Inter-District Male Games here at the Sports Complex.
Mardan won 14 gold medals and collected overall 140 points.Competition of 15 different sports disciplines were held in the event. Mardan claimed gold medals in tug-of-war, hockey, table tennis, badminton, kabaddi, squash, tennis, basketball, gymnastics, athletics, football, judo, karate and wrestling.
Swabi with seven silver medals and 70 points came second while Malakand district finished third by securing only one gold medal.Athletes from four districts — Mardan, Swabi, Malakand and Buner — participated in the games.
Director Operations Syed Saqlain Shah, Director Development Salim Raza, AD Sports Zakir, Nimayat Ullah, district sports officer Kashif Farhan were present on the occasion. They gave away trophies, certificates and cash prizes to the winners.The winners awarded Rs20,000 cash and runners-up got richer by Rs15,000.
