Make it stop
This refers to the article ‘Making sense of suicides’ (Mar 15) by Amir Hussain. It is the unfortunate truth that large numbers of people are committing suicide. Some preventive measures in the form of affordable counselling should be introduced to counter this problem. We need to devise a plan to help these people channelize their negative energy into something constructive. In today’s highly-competitive world, there are so many factors that can assert too much pressure on the people.
From school-going people to office workers, everyone has to go through some form of stress. We need to create awareness among people that seeking help is the first steps towards recovery. In fact, education institutions and work places should have an in-house counsellor who can help people overcome the issues that they are facing. We need to take concrete steps to improve people’s mental health.
