A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy was killed when a man resorted to firing into the air at a wedding function in Kahna on Saturday.
The boy was identified as Shah Zaib of Dhalloki, Kahna.
Police said the accused identified as Shafqat resorted to firing in the jubilation when a bullet hit the boy who was a nephew of the bridegroom. The injured was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to the wound. Police arrested the accused and handed over the body to the heirs after completing the legal formalities.
found dead: A 40-year-old man was found dead in the limits of New Anarkali police station on Saturday. Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict who might have died from excessive use of drugs. Police shifted the dead body to the morgue for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.
youth killed: A 24-year-old youth was killed by a speeding car in Raiwind City area on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Junaid of Raiwind City. The victim was on his way on a bike when a rashly driven car hit him. As a result, he sustained serious injuries. The car driver escaped after abandoning his vehicle.
Injured Junaid was rushed to a local hospital where he yielded to injuries. Police shifted the dead body to the morgue.
awareness: The CTO Lahore set up an awareness camp against the wheelie near the Liberty Roundabout on Saturday. Children from various schools visited the camp and distributed pamphlets along the Traffic Education Team among bike riders. The police officers educated the youths about the disadvantages of the wheelie and requested the parents to keep vigil on their children in this regard.
accidents: At least 666 road traffic accidents were reported to the Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all the 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which two lives were lost and 538 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of the relevant districts. However, some 281 minor injured were

provided first aid by the Rescue 1122 on the spot.
According to a data provided by the PMC, 289 drivers, 22 underage drivers, 135 pedestrians and 397 passengers were among injured of these road traffic accidents. The statistics show 125 RTAs were reported to Lahore Control Room, which affected 152 persons placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by 71 RTAs in Faisalabad with 84 victims and Multan at third position with 49 RTAs and 52 victims.
Details further show that total 821 persons were affected by the road traffic crashes including 645 males and 176 females, while the age group of the affected persons showed that 111 were under the 18 years of age, 511 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 199 injured were reported above 40 years. According to the data, 549 motorbikes, 91 auto rickshaws, 69 motorcars, 37 vans, seven passenger buses, 12 trucks and 52 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the aforesaid road traffic accidents.
